A man has been charged with murder following the death of Stuart Nash, a 'devoted' grandfather from Solihull. Kevin Johnson, 38, of Birmingham, is accused of killing Mr Nash, who was confirmed dead at the scene after an incident in Shustoke Road, Solihull, on Saturday evening, September 19.
Court appearance and remand
Johnson appeared before magistrates in Coventry this morning, Tuesday, September 22, and was remanded to appear again on Thursday, September 24, at Birmingham Crown Court. The charge relates to the death of Mr Nash, whose family have paid an emotional tribute to him.
West Midlands Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, which occurred in Shustoke Road. A 35-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Family tribute to Stuart Nash
In a statement released through the police, Mr Nash's family described him as a devoted dad to his six children, including his stepdaughter. They said: "Stuart was a devoted dad to his six children, including his step daughter, and being a dad was one of the most important things in his life."
The tribute continued: "He was also a grandad and a fiancé who was loved by his family. Stuart was our rock and his loss has left a huge hole in our lives. He was loving and kind and would do anything for the people he loved. We will miss his smile, his laughter and simply having him around."
Ongoing investigation and appeal
Flowers have been left at the scene in Shustoke Road as a mark of respect. The family added: "There are no words that can describe the pain of losing Stuart, and our lives will never be the same. He will always be loved and never forgotten. We ask for privacy at this terrible time in order to come to terms with this loss."
