Jessie J admits to Raya dating app use after split

Jessie J has tearfully admitted in a tongue-in-cheek Instagram video that she briefly reactivated her account on the celebrity dating app Raya following her split from basketball player Chanan Safir Colman. The 38-year-old singer, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, addressed the rumours in a video posted on Saturday (16 August), looking into a dressing room mirror and telling fans “it’s time to tell you the truth”.

Singer confesses to two-day Raya fling

In the video, Jessie J said: “I updated and reactivated my Raya account on a dating app. I did.” She explained that the brief activity lasted just two days: “For two days, I surrendered. I just got excited and I updated my pictures.” However, she admitted she did not update her bio, saying: “But I didn't update my bio because I wanted to be mysterious,” before winking at the camera.

She concluded: “But I've deactivated it and I'm really sorry and I won't do it again.” The admission comes after reports that she had been spotted on the app, following her split from Colman, with whom she shares her three-year-old son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman. The couple announced the end of their five-year relationship in a statement last month.

Recent health struggles and emotional revelations

Jessie J has faced a challenging period recently, having been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer last year. She underwent surgery in June 2025 to remove one of her breasts and spent months recovering before requiring a second surgery. Reflecting on the impact of the diagnosis, she gave an emotional speech at the Music Industry Trust Awards, saying: “All of us here are going through stuff in life that we have to carry to work and leave at home or take to work. This year has changed my whole world. My perspective, what battles I'm going to pick, when death comes knocking at your door, and you kind of have to answer and f****** kick it away, it just changes everything.”

Additionally, she was recently rushed to hospital for an MRI scan after sustaining a head injury. Despite these difficulties, her dating app confession appears to have been made in a light-hearted manner, as she winked and smiled through her tears.

Impact on fans and future steps

The singer’s candid video has resonated with fans, who have flooded social media with support. While she has not indicated any immediate plans to rejoin dating apps, her deactivation of the Raya account suggests she is taking a step back from the dating scene for now. As she continues to focus on her health and raising her son, her public statements reflect a desire for honesty and connection with her audience.
