Mum's Date Ruined by 'Mortifying' Bottom Slap: 'I Feel Yucky'
Mum's date ruined by 'mortifying' bottom slap

A mother has revealed how a promising first date was instantly ruined by a single 'mortifying' act, leaving her feeling 'yucky' and 'compromised'.

A Promising Start Turns Sour

The woman, a 47-year-old mum, explained that she had been on a date with a man she had known for around a year, who is also her son's friend's dad. He had made a 'huge effort' to woo her, with plenty of flirty text banter and compliments.

The date itself began perfectly. He picked her up and had made reservations at her favourite restaurant. She confirmed there was 'definitely chemistry' and everything was going well. The trouble started later when they moved to a pub.

The 'Wrong Move' That Ended Everything

The situation changed in an instant. When the woman bent down in the pub to help another person retrieve a coat, her date took the opportunity to slap her bottom.

She was utterly mortified, not least because the pub was busy with people she knew, some of whom she had just introduced him to. She was left feeling stunned and embarrassed, only processing the full extent of her upset about an hour after returning home.

To Tell or Not to Tell?

While she is adamant that she 'won't see him again', she took to the Mumsnet forum to ask other users whether she should explain her reasons to him. A friend had suggested giving him a second chance, dismissing the act as 'a bit of craic'.

Forum users were overwhelmingly supportive of her decision to end contact. One response urged her to 'absolutely tell him why', arguing that he needed to learn this behaviour was unacceptable to prevent him from repeating it with another woman.

Another user provided a potential script for a message, suggesting she could say: 'Hi X, unfortunately I don’t want to go on any more dates as I was a bit upset on our last one when you slapped me. You may say it was in jest but it felt gross.'

Others advocated for a more direct approach, with one simply stating, 'I don't date people who slap me', while another bluntly advised her to 'Ditch him and the 'friend'' who suggested a second chance.
