Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) is calling on local people to join its annual sponsored walk and afternoon of entertainment, which will raise vital funds for lifesaving medical flights across the region. The Heli Hike in Kent and the Family Fun Day take place at The Friars, Aylesford, on Saturday, September 19.
Participants can choose from three countryside routes before enjoying live music, birds of prey displays and funfair rides. One walker taking part lost his brother and nephew in a tragic road crash five years ago. Ian Hoyle will complete the course alongside two friends to support the team that helped his family.
A Personal Mission for Ian Hoyle
Ian said: "I'm really looking forward to taking part in Heli Hike in Kent alongside Jay Hicks and Carlo Capelli and raising as much money as we possibly can for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex. KSS means a huge amount to me personally."

Routes and Family Activities
The Heli Hike Kent offers a choice of three, seven point five, or 10-mile paths through local vineyards and countryside. Every person who finishes receives a medal and a drink, with dogs also welcome to join the fun. The afternoon event gives families the chance to meet crew members and see the aircraft up close if it is not on a mission. Children between four and 10 can also try fun challenges to earn a special medal.
Costs and How to Take Part
It costs more than £20.8m each year to run the lifesaving 24-hour service, which responds to more than 3,100 emergencies annually. The service can reach patients anywhere in the region within 30 minutes.
Heli Hike entry is £15 for adults and £10 for children; Fun Day entry is £2.50 (£5 for Mini Medic option). To find out more, visit: www.aakss.org.uk/events.
