Nominate Derby's Community Heroes for 2026 Voluntary Sector Awards
Do you know an outstanding volunteer, a dedicated community champion, or a local group that is making a significant impact in Derby? This is your opportunity to ensure they receive the recognition they truly deserve as nominations officially open for the Derby Voluntary Sector Awards 2026.
Celebrating Local Contributions
This annual event shines a spotlight on the remarkable individuals and charitable organisations that go the extra mile to support residents across our city. The awards are coordinated by Community Action Derby, with valuable support from Derby Homes, aiming to express gratitude to those who selflessly dedicate their time and energy to helping others.
All successful winners will be invited to a special awards ceremony scheduled for June during Volunteers’ Week, where their achievements will be celebrated in style. Importantly, every single person or group nominated will also receive a certificate to acknowledge their hard work and valuable contribution to the community.
Diverse Award Categories
There are 14 different categories to choose from, covering a wide range of areas including young volunteers, sports initiatives, arts projects, heritage preservation, and environmental endeavours. This diversity ensures that various forms of community service are recognised.
Baby J, the founder of the local music organisation Baby People and a previous award winner, emphasised how meaningful this recognition is for local teams. "It’s an amazing thing when your work is recognised," he said. "Our team put so much into what we do, so for someone to recognise that our work is important and makes a difference in the city really means a lot."
He added, "Winning a Derby Voluntary Sector Award has been really good for us, and I’d really encourage people to nominate individuals and organisations doing great work."
Act Quickly to Nominate
If you wish to put someone forward for these prestigious awards, it is essential to act promptly. Nominations will close on Sunday, April 12, 2026. You can find more detailed information about the various categories and submit your nomination directly through the Community Action Derby website.
