Teens Trek 20 Miles Across Six Welsh Peaks for Charity

Two 15-year-old boys from Garndiffaith, Torfaen, have completed an extraordinary challenge — trekking 20 miles across six of Wales’ most iconic peaks to raise funds for the Wales Air Ambulance and Blaenavon U15s Rugby.

On May 2, Travis Jones and Will Jones, alongside their families, trekked the peaks of Cribyn, Fan y Big, Pen y Fan, Corn Du, Skirrid, and Sugar Loaf. Starting at 6am on Fan y Big and finishing at Sugar Loaf, their journey was fuelled by determination, resilience, and incredible support from friends, family, and teammates — both on the mountains and waiting below with food and encouragement.

This was far more than a physical test. The boys set out to raise vital funds for the Wales Air Ambulance, with half of the proceeds donated in memory of Travis’ cousin, 'Our Ad,' marking the 10th anniversary of his passing. The remaining funds will support Blaenavon U15s Rugby, helping young players continue to thrive. So far, they have raised an incredible £3,600.

Nic Leek, Will’s cousin, said: 'Their achievement highlights teenagers in a truly positive light — inspiring not only their peers and younger generations, but adults too, to push personal boundaries.'

'At a time when anxiety and self-harm among young people are rising, challenges like this promote mental wellbeing, purpose, and connection. Their journey is a powerful reminder of what young people can achieve — spreading positivity across communities in Wales and across the UK.'
