Sedlescombe Resident Urges Kent to Join Walk for Parkinson's at Mote Park
Walk for Parkinson's at Mote Park: Join the Cause

A Sedlescombe resident is rallying support across Kent for the Walk for Parkinson's event, scheduled to take place at Mote Park on June 7, 2026. Alice Bennett, who is preparing to participate for the fourth time, is encouraging others to join the cause.

Supporting the Nurse Appeal

Alice will once again walk in aid of Parkinson's UK and its Nurse Appeal, which aims to raise £9 million to fund specialist Parkinson's nurses and enhance access to expert care throughout the UK. Currently, 166,000 people in the UK live with Parkinson's, yet more than 28,000 lack access to specialist support.

Personal Inspiration

Alice was motivated to fundraise after her husband Colin received a diagnosis of the condition. She shared: "Our family has thoroughly enjoyed participating in Walk for Parkinson's over the past four years. It is always a fun-filled day, and it is heartwarming to see everyone unite. We are especially delighted that the funds are once again supporting the Nurse Appeal, and we hope it raises substantial amounts."

Event Details

The Mote Park event offers two routes: a 1.5-mile and a 5.6-mile walk. Entry costs £12, with under-18s admitted free. Walkers are encouraged to raise £100 in sponsorship. Participants will receive a fundraising pack, a T-shirt, and support materials. Volunteers are also needed on the day.

James Beeching, community fundraiser at Parkinson's UK, commented: "It is inspiring to have supporters like Alice backing Walk for Parkinson's and contributing to the Nurse Appeal. These funds will enable more people to access the specialised care they require."
