BBC's UNBOXD Live in Digbeth: Free Immersive Event for Young Fans
Free BBC UNBOXD Live Event Hits Digbeth This February

The BBC is set to launch a spectacular free event in Birmingham, offering young audiences an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at some of its most iconic programmes. UNBOXD Live will transform a warehouse in Digbeth's Secret Space into a fully immersive 'creative arena' on Thursday, February 5.

Step Into Your Favourite BBC Shows

This unique experience is designed specifically for those aged between 16 and 24, as well as content creators. Ticket holders will gain what the broadcaster describes as 'a backstage pass like never before', diving directly into the worlds of hit shows. The day promises a packed schedule of interactive activities, all completely free of charge, running from 2pm until 8pm.

Attendees can test their mettle with a real mission taken straight from series four of the smash-hit show The Traitors. They'll also get the chance to walk the famous cobbles of Albert Square and act out a scene on an authentic EastEnders set. For fans of adventure, the Race Across The World speed packing challenge will put their organisational skills to the test.

A Hub of Creative Opportunities and Careers Advice

Beyond the fun and games, UNBOXD Live has a serious purpose: to connect with the next generation. The event will be filled with opportunities to film and photograph unique moments, while also learning about potential career paths with the BBC. A dedicated BBC Early Careers Team will be on hand throughout the day to offer advice on CV building, apprenticeships, and more.

Other highlights from the 'immersive content pod' experiences include:

  • Trying your hand as a Radio 1 dance DJ with guidance from presenters and producers.
  • Taking on the BBC Sport Crossbar Challenge.
  • Exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into Race Across The World and a live session on being a Traitors contestant.
  • Learning how news stories are produced and verified from the specialist BBC Verify team.

The atmosphere will be boosted by live sets from local Birmingham DJs, alongside panel chats and sessions tailored for digital creators. Access to the various zones will be via a dedicated 'storytelling entrance tunnel', ensuring the experience begins the moment visitors arrive.

BBC's Growing Presence in Birmingham's Creative Heart

This event signals the BBC's deepening commitment to the Digbeth area. The corporation will move into the neighbourhood permanently next year, establishing The Tea Factory as its official Birmingham headquarters. The creative district, which has also hosted filming for shows like MasterChef, was recently highlighted as one of the best places to live in the West Midlands.

Tim Davie, BBC Director-General, emphasised the importance of the initiative: "UNBOXD Live is an immersive playground, bringing our favourite BBC content and shows to life, and putting younger audiences right at the heart of them. It is so important that the BBC remains relevant and supportive of the needs of young people in a fast-changing and often challenging world."

Tickets for UNBOXD Live in Digbeth are available now for this one-day-only event. It represents a rare opportunity for young fans to not just watch their favourite shows, but to step directly into them and explore the creative processes behind broadcast magic.
