Alison Hammond's appearance on This Morning has sparked a rush on River Island's blue check satin co-ord, with the £34 blouse and £42 skirt selling out online. The Birmingham-born presenter wore the two-piece set on Wednesday, July 22, while covering for Cat Deeley during the summer break.
The high-street co-ord consists of the Blue Check Satin Blouse (£34) and matching Blue Satin Check Maxi Skirt (£42), available in sizes 6-22. The sleeveless blouse features a draped neckline and luxurious satin finish with a red and blue checked design, while the maxi skirt has an elasticated waistband for comfort, making it ideal for those who experience bloating.
Previous Version Sold Out
This is not the first time Hammond has caused a frenzy with this style. Back in March, she wore a green and orange version of the co-ord, which quickly sold out. Shoppers flooded social media with comments such as: "You look amazing in your dress. Would you mind sending me the info," and "where is this dress from?" The new blue colourway is expected to follow suit, with River Island reporting high demand.
The co-ord is versatile for summer weddings, race days, garden parties, or holidays. The satin fabric gives a premium feel, and the pieces can be worn separately—the blouse with linen trousers or denim, and the skirt with a vest or lightweight knit for transitional months.
Alternative Options
For those who prefer trouser co-ords, Next offers a White/Black Stripe One Shoulder Scarf Tie Top for £35 with matching trousers at £45. Nobody's Child has a Chocolate Brown Jacquard Floral Satin Leila Slip Skirt for £69 and a corresponding top for £59. River Island also sells the blue check pattern as a maxi dress for £59, featuring a drape neck, short fluted sleeve, and tie belt.
According to River Island, the co-ord is currently in stock but expected to sell out quickly given the reaction to Hammond's first appearance. The elasticated waistband has been praised by shoppers for its comfort, particularly for those with digestive issues.
