Birmingham Eid al-Adha 2026 Date Confirmed

Birmingham's major Eid al-Adha celebration has been officially announced, with the date set for Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Thousands of people are expected to gather at Small Heath Park for prayers and a family funfair.

Event Details for Eid al-Adha 2026

Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre (GLMCC) has confirmed that the event will take place at Small Heath Park, subject to weather conditions. Prayers are scheduled to begin promptly at 9am, with worshippers asked to arrive by 8.15am. Attendees are advised to bring their own prayer mats and water, as no ablution facilities will be available on site.

Parking is expected to be limited, so visitors are encouraged to car share or walk if possible. Those driving are asked to park considerately near residences. In case of rain, multiple prayers will be held indoors at Green Lane Mosque at 6:30am, 7:30am, 8:30am, 9:30am, and 10:30am.

Funfair and Community Spirit

The Robert Wilkins funfair will be part of the celebrations, though its operation may depend on weather conditions. A spokesperson for GLMCC highlighted the importance of community: "Celebrating Eid through prayer is an important act of worship and community spirit. It is from the Prophetic tradition that all members of the community attend the Eid prayer, including young people, women, the elderly, and those who have newly embraced Islam."

Significance of Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha commemorates the faith, sacrifice, and perseverance of Prophet Abraham and his family. The spokesperson added: "These stories remind us that through faith, perseverance, and collective care for one another, positive change is always possible. Today, society is experiencing division and hostility, yet the values reflected in Eid al-Adha encourage us to continue believing in goodness, to persevere in acts of kindness, and to remain committed to building peace."
