Wirksworth Wizarding Day returns with new parade

The UK's largest fan-organised event for Harry Potter enthusiasts is set to return to the historic Peak District town of Wirksworth. Scheduled for Sunday, October 4, the event invites adults and children to dress as their favourite characters and enjoy themed food, magical activities, music, quizzes, and the company of fellow fans.

Organisers promise that magic and surprises will be around every corner, making it a day of fun for all attendees. Alongside the entertainment, the event raises funds for good causes, with this year's proceeds supporting Wirksworth Colts Football Club, the Fire Fighters Charity, and the Wirksworth Pre-School Group.

Returning Favourites and New Attractions

Several popular features are making a comeback, including special Wizarding Express Trains from Duffield to Wirksworth, appearances by owls and snakes, rides on the Routemaster bus, Harry Potter Quizardry, storytellers, magicians, and the character costume contest.

New for this year is the Parade of Witches, Wizards, Professors, and Magical Creatures, which will close the day's events. Visitors are encouraged to dress up and bring a flag or banner to carry during the parade.

Booking and Travel Information

Details about activities and train bookings will be published on the event's official website at wizardingday.com, as well as on its Facebook page (Wirksworth Wizarding) and Instagram (@wizardingwirksworth). Parking for muggle cars is limited in Wirksworth, so those unable to arrive by broomstick, flying carpet, portkey, or the Wizarding Express are advised to book or use the park and ride service at ticketsource.co.uk/wizarding.

Wirksworth Wizarding Day is a fan-created, non-profit event put on by the community for the community of Harry Potter fans. It operates independently, with no association or responsibility from Warner Bros. Entertainment or J.K. Rowling.

The event's return underscores its role as a highlight in the local calendar, combining entertainment with community support. By raising funds for three local organisations, it aims to make a tangible impact while celebrating the magic of the Harry Potter series.
