Love Island star Aidan Murphy has revealed that he and his younger brother Kavan auditioned for the reality show together, but the pair were left in suspense over whether both would be selected until the very last moment. Speaking to Capital, Aidan admitted that the producers kept the details of their participation a closely guarded secret, and he only discovered Kavan would be entering the villa when his brother walked through the doors as a bombshell.
The moment came during day 4 of the series, when Kavan and fellow bombshell Priya Jaswal were sent on dates with temporarily dumped Islanders Ellie Chadwick and Samraj Toor. Ellie was left speechless during her date with Kavan after realising he was Aidan's younger brother, a revelation that delighted viewers and set tongues wagging across the villa.
Auditioning together but kept apart
Speaking from Capital HQ after leaving the villa with Priya by his side, Aidan explained the unusual audition process. "We auditioned together. We did the whole process together," he said. "And then, right at the last meeting they kinda separated us and we were up in the air as to what was going on. So it was basically left as a mystery."
Priya, who entered the villa alongside Kavan, then revealed her part in solving the puzzle. "But I brought him in, and the mystery was solved," she said. Aidan responded, "You did! You and Kav came in, and then obviously Ellie came in as well, someone I was coupled up with. But I knew straight away they had been on a date."
Emotional reunion in the villa
Reflecting on the moment he was reunited with his brother, Aidan described it as one of the highlights of his time on the show. "It was a great moment. Kav coming in was very emotional, was one of my best moments in the villa. I honestly didn't know, but seeing his face was amazing," he said.
The brothers, who are from the same family and share a close bond, supported each other throughout the competition. Their joint experience has been a talking point for fans, especially as the pair navigated the challenges of the villa while keeping their relationship strong.
Brothers closer than ever
In his exit interview with ITV, Aidan opened up about how the experience has strengthened their relationship. "I can honestly say I could not have done any of this without Kavan," he said. "Having moments to discuss things and then lean on him for advice, knowing that he's my brother, he's my blood, I can trust him. Me and Kav were always close before coming in here, but having an experience like this together, we're only going to get closer and closer."
