A former National Trust site in the West Midlands is set to offer free entry for a unique one-day event. The property, which has been under the management of a local heritage trust since 2019, will open its gates at no charge on Saturday, 14 September 2024.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm, giving visitors the chance to explore the site's historic house and gardens. Highlights include guided tours of the Tudor manor, demonstrations of traditional crafts, and family-friendly activities such as pond dipping and nature trails.
History of the Site
Originally built in the 16th century, the property was acquired by the National Trust in the 1940s and later transferred to a local heritage trust. Since then, significant restoration work has taken place, including repairs to the roof and the restoration of the Victorian kitchen garden. The trust has invested over £2 million in the site since taking over.

The free entry event is part of a wider strategy to increase visitor numbers and raise awareness of the site's heritage. According to organizers, last year the site welcomed 8,000 visitors, and the trust hopes to see that number rise to 15,000 in the coming years. The event also aims to attract potential volunteers and donors to support ongoing conservation efforts.
