The Sunday Times has released its prestigious Best Places to Live list for 2026, and the top spot in the Midlands goes to The Malverns. This scenic area, comprising towns and villages around the Malvern Hills, has been praised for its majestic setting, elegant communities, and vibrant cultural scene.
Why The Malverns Won
Judges considered factors such as schools, transport, green spaces, high streets, and local quality of life. They highlighted the area's spectacular walks, immaculate parks, and strong sense of local pride. The cultural offerings, including festivals, theatres, and the recently reopened Theatre of Small Convenience, were also key factors.
Stratford-upon-Avon, Bournville, and Shrewsbury received honourable mentions, but it was The Malverns that took the crown this year.
