Married At First Sight UK star Julia-Ruth has publicly addressed the secret fling with her co-star Joe that sent shockwaves through the experiment. The controversial bride broke her silence on social media following the explosive revelation during a dramatic girls' night episode aired on E4.
The Shocking Confession
During Monday night's explosive episode, the 29-year-old fiery dancer found herself at the centre of a heated argument when fellow bride Maeve announced that Julia-Ruth had been intimate with her now ex-husband Joe. The revelation occurred during a last-minute holiday to Lanzarote that the pair took after both had exited the show.
Julia-Ruth was branded "disgusting" and accused of "sly" behaviour during the frosty confrontation. However, now that filming has concluded, she has taken to Instagram to share her side of the story, posting a series of snaps showing the tense moment playing out on screen.
Julia-Ruth's Side of the Story
In her social media statement, Julia-Ruth explained that after everything that happened during the experiment, she felt "incredibly isolated" and reached out to cast members who had already left the show. She described how she and Joe ended up taking a spontaneous trip together that she found genuinely uplifting.
"I hadn't laughed that much in months," she wrote. "He reminded me of who I am and how I deserve to be treated." However, the romantic connection took an unexpected turn when Joe ghosted her the day before she was meant to visit him again, leaving her without any explanation.
Despite the hurtful ending, Julia-Ruth insisted she has "no regrets" about the experience itself or getting to know Joe. She did express remorse for the hurt caused to others, particularly Maeve, offering a sincere apology while clarifying that both of their marriages had ended before they connected.
Additional Co-Star Drama
The drama didn't stop with Joe. During the same tense scene, Julia-Ruth revealed that Steven, Nelly's ex-husband, had reached out to ask her out "for a drink." The former footballer and investment banker had previously left the show amid accusations of using dating app Hinge during filming.
Despite their apparent mutual interest and plans to meet up, Julia-Ruth later confirmed they never followed through. When questioned by a fan about what happened with Steven, she responded: "He didn't even get the drink! Can you imagine!"
She also addressed the unequal scrutiny she believes she's received compared to her male co-stars, commenting: "You love to attack a Black woman, go get your boys!"
Steven separately addressed the drama on his own social media, writing: "I sincerely hope you're not expecting another statement from me regarding last night's MAFS UK. Not everything needs a response and the show isn't over, so keep watching."
The unfolding drama continues to captivate Married At First Sight UK viewers as the series progresses, with Julia-Ruth's confession marking one of the most talked-about moments of the current season.
