The Drakes Drum in Great Barr, consistently ranked number one on Tripadvisor for the best fish and chips in Birmingham, has reopened after a three-week refurbishment by Sizzling Pubs. The pub now boasts new furnishings, a brighter bar area, updated decor, and a significantly extended beer garden.
Extended Beer Garden for Summer
The sun trap front patio has been expanded to accommodate 17 tables for 136 guests, making it an ideal spot for summer dining and drinks. General manager Lorri Reid-Ward expressed excitement about the transformation, stating: 'We couldn't be more excited to show off the pub's new look. It's been amazing seeing guests walk in and instantly feel at home.'
New Menu and Entertainment
Alongside the famous fish and chips, the menu now features crispy sweet chilli chicken, a pork tomahawk, and caramelised waffles. The pub continues to offer big screen sports, monthly karaoke nights, Friday night bingo, line dancing, and regular live music.
Sustainability Improvements
As part of the refurbishment, solar panels have been installed on the flat roof sections, enhancing the pub's sustainability. Reid-Ward added: 'Whether you're popping in to watch the big game, grabbing a bite with the kids, or just catching up over a drink, we've kept everything you love about the place with a bit of extra sizzle.'
