BTS members j-hope, Jung Kook, Jimin, Suga, Jin, and V sat down with Capital Breakfast's Jordan North at Kensington Palace for an exclusive UK interview, marking their first visit to the UK in seven years. The interview, part of 'A Very British And Korean Day Out', covered their new album ARIRANG, their time apart during military service, and their love for UK ARMY.
BTS Reunites After Hiatus
During the interview, the members reflected on getting back together after being apart for over three years. V described it as feeling like a family reunion, while j-hope and Jung Kook expressed how much they missed each other. Jimin noted that V looked significantly different after military service, having "really beefed up."
V shared that he felt bored and isolated during his military service, as he didn't have anyone who could understand him. SUGA echoed this sentiment, saying he didn't have many people to talk to. V added that although there were peer counsellors available, he struggled to open up about his worries.
New Album ARIRANG and Music Video 'NORMAL'
The group discussed their latest album ARIRANG and the music video for 'NORMAL'. j-hope highlighted that the song 'FYA' has received the best response on tour, while SUGA also mentioned 'Body to Body'. V and Jimin both praised 'Body to Body', with Jin explaining that the 'Arirang, Arirang' part in the song gets audiences worldwide singing along, making it the most exciting part of the tour.
Regarding the 'Normal' music video, Jimin advised fans to pay close attention to Jung Kook at the beginning, as he looks really impressive. j-hope pointed out Jimin's abs, while V teased a puppy appearance. Jin revealed that V pulls his trousers down in the video, a move that wasn't discussed beforehand, and he was amazed by V's spontaneity.
British Afternoon Tea and Slang
The boys sampled iconic British cuisine, including English Breakfast tea, scones with cream and jam, sandwiches, and Colin the Caterpillar cake. They also learned British slang with a northern twang, such as "y'alright?!" In return, they treated Jordan North to a Korean snack called Ppeongtwigi.
Memories of UK Performances
j-hope praised UK crowds for their ability to enjoy themselves and have fun. Jimin recalled their viral Freddie Mercury moment at Wembley Stadium, where they performed 'Bohemian Rhapsody', calling it a special memory. V emphasized that fans need to hear their songs live to truly feel them, as the same song changes with ARMY's cheers.
SUGA highlighted the Wembley show as particularly memorable, while V cited finishing their military service as a standout moment. Jimin speculated that their upcoming concert in two days might become the most memorable day.
Message to UK Fans
Jung Kook delivered a heartfelt message to UK fans: "First of all, it's been such a long time. We've missed you so much. Our concert is in two days and we can't wait to see you. We've missed you so much and we'll give it our all. Thank you!"
RM was absent from the interview because, according to V, he "took a nap." The full interview is available on Global Player.
