Hairdresser Mysteries Fans Want Second Series

The Hairdresser Mysteries, a new mystery series filmed near Birmingham, has premiered on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, prompting immediate calls from viewers for a second series. All episodes were released on Friday, July 17, 2026, on BBC iPlayer, with weekly broadcasts on BBC One.

Cast and Plot

The show stars Sally Phillips as Lily Petal, a hairdresser with a passion for 1970s fashion who becomes an unlikely detective. Her intelligent assistant, Clary Coombs, is played by former Coronation Street actress Charlotte Jordan. They are aided by local gossip Wincey and enthusiastic Police Constable Adam as they solve the town's growing mysteries.

Phillips is best known for playing Shazza in the Bridget Jones film series, while Jordan takes on her first major television role since leaving Coronation Street in 2025, where she played Daisy Midgeley for five years.

Viewer Reactions

Ahead of the launch, Jordan shared her excitement on Instagram: "The Hairdresser Mysteries' drops on @bbcone and @bbciplayer today with the schamazinggg @sallysmack @isunetra and @bencastlegibb. Welcome to Blossom Vale. Where everyone's a little bit odd...and someone usually ends up dead. New episodes every Friday for the next six weeks."

The series received an enthusiastic response. One fan commented: "LOVING IT SO FAR!! Lily and Clary are already an ICONIC duo!!" Another wrote: "So obsessed, already need another series!!"

On X, one viewer noted many fans tuned in to see Jordan's first post-Coronation Street project, calling her "brilliant" in the role. Another praised: "One of the joys of this programme was seeing soap characters in new roles. Here we see Henrik Hansen from Holby City played by Guy Henry in the role of antiques dealer Race Runard."

Charlotte Jordan's Farewell to Coronation Street

In 2025, Jordan delivered a farewell message after her final scenes as Daisy Midgeley aired. She said: "Hello. I wanted to pop on and say thank you for all of the love you've shown Daisy over the last four-and-a-half years. It's been wonderful. It's been an honour to be a little piece of the Corrie history and I will miss this place very, very much. And yeah, it's goodbye for now."

The Hairdresser Mysteries airs Fridays at 2pm on BBC One.
