The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman declared Birmingham New Street Station "genuinely the best" she has ever visited during a stop in the city to film Channel 4's The Piano.
Claudia Praises Birmingham Despite Freezing Weather
Filmed back in January 2026 amid Storm Goretti, the show aired on July 12. Heavy snow caused travel chaos and school closures across the region. Despite wearing her trademark fingerless gloves, Winkleman was visibly cold, asking two girls in the crowd: "I'm so cold, aren't you?" One Brummie shrugged off the weather, replying: "It's Birmingham."
Winkleman then expressed her affection for the city, saying: "I love Birmingham!" She added: "This is genuinely the best station I have ever been in, in my life."
Comparison to Other Stations
As host of The Piano, Winkleman visits major stations across the UK, including London St Pancras, Leeds, and Glasgow Central. None compared to Birmingham New Street and Grand Central, which she praised for its shops and restaurants.
The show features amateur pianists performing on public pianos. Winkleman's visit drew crowds to the New Street Station concourse, where she helped search for the next talented musician.
