The landlord of a 'haunted' Black Country pub has revealed that customers have reported seeing ghosts on the premises. Malcolm Roberts, who runs The Rising Sun in Tipton alongside his wife Julia, shared his eerie experiences during an interview on Disco Dave's Pub Reviews.
Supernatural Encounters at The Rising Sun
Malcolm, who previously appeared on the television show Help! My House Is Haunted, described several unsettling incidents. He claimed to have been physically pushed by a spirit while in the cellar, despite being alone at the time. Other occurrences include glasses mysteriously breaking behind the bar and drinks being thrown from tables during busy periods.
“Believe me, it is haunted because it's happened to me a number of times and customers have seen ghosts,” Malcolm stated. “I was pushed in the cellar, nobody was around. Glasses thrown from the table when the bar is quite busy. Glasses breaking behind the bar.”
Paranormal Nights a Popular Attraction
The Rising Sun has become a hotspot for paranormal enthusiasts, with regular 'haunted nights' that are consistently sold out. Malcolm noted that the pub's reputation draws in crowds eager to experience the supernatural for themselves. “If you go on Help! My House Is Haunted, you can see the programme, it's an hour long about The Rising Sun,” he added. “We have haunted nights and it's a sell-out, no one else can come because it's already sold out.”
A Warm Welcome for Real Ale Lovers
Despite its spooky reputation, Malcolm emphasised that The Rising Sun remains a friendly and welcoming venue. “If you like real ale, this is the place to come and visit. If you have visited, you'll come again. The customers are all friendly so come and have a look yourself.”
The pub, which serves Black Country Ales, continues to attract both ghost hunters and ale enthusiasts alike, making it a unique destination in Tipton.
