Jah Wobble, the former Public Image Ltd bassist, will bring his band The Invaders Of The Heart to Stourbridge on Saturday, October 3, as part of his autumn UK tour. The performance at Katie Fitzgerald's will feature the Metal Box Rebuilt in Dub shows, reworking the second PiL album.
A punk pioneer's journey
Wobble, born John Wardle in 1958, was renamed by Sex Pistols' Sid Vicious, who struggled to pronounce his name correctly. He began his career in 1978 as a member of Public Image Ltd (PiL) alongside former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon and Keith Levene. His bass playing quickly became known for blending elements of dub, funk and world music.
Metal Box Rebuilt in Dub shows
The Metal Box Rebuilt in Dub shows will also feature tracks from the debut PiL album, First Issue. Wobble's band includes former Siouxsie and The Banshees guitarist Jon Klein. The shows are part of a UK tour following a busy year for Wobble, who has re-released his album The Usual Suspects, collaborated with Jon Klein on the Automated Paradise album, and worked on the Mystic Liverpool album with his sons.
