Author Jenny Han has issued a heartfelt plea to fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty, asking them to refrain from visiting the movie set and filming scenes. The production, which began in late April in North Carolina, has seen fans flocking to locations, recording footage of stars Lola Tung and Christopher Briney as Belly and Conrad.
Disruptions on Set
In a statement posted on Instagram, Han explained that fan presence disrupts the work. "When people come to set, film, and share videos, it disrupts the work. It makes it harder for actors to get into character and causes unnecessary anxiety for them," she wrote. She added that production often has to stop to clear crowds, breaking the crew's focus.
Han emphasized the importance of protecting the creative process: "This story means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to you, too. I want to give you the best version of this movie. Please help protect our process."
Prime Video's Plea
Prime Video echoed Han's sentiments with a "Privacy Please" campaign. In a social media post, they stated: "We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew. We're working hard to create a protected bubble to make the best movie possible. Please help us protect the magic of Cousins until it's ready to be shared."
Movie Details
The feature-length film picks up after season 3 and will be the final chapter for Belly and Conrad. Stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno are returning. While no release date has been announced, it has been confirmed that the movie will not premiere in 2026. Plot details remain under wraps, though Han has hinted that fans may see Belly and Conrad's wedding.
