Saver Wins £100,000 with Just £270 in Premium Bonds

National Savings and Investments (NS&I) is urging customers who have held Premium Bonds since 2000 to check their accounts after a saver landed a £100,000 prize despite holding only £270 in bonds. The winning entry was a £100 bond originally purchased in February 2000, and the Bromley resident's windfall came alongside 70 other savers who also claimed £100,000 prizes in the June draw.

Other Big Winners Across the UK

A saver from Southern Scotland claimed £100,000 with a £50,000 bond acquired in March 2026, while a Hertfordshire resident won the same amount from a £7,000 investment made that same month. In South Yorkshire, one bondholder turned a £9,300 purchase from April 2026 into a £100,000 prize. An outer London saver achieved particularly impressive returns, winning £100,000 from just £600 invested in April this year. A Surrey resident also secured the six-figure sum with a £5,000 bond bought in January 2026.

June Draw Details and Total Prizes

In the June draw, 5,954,593 tax-free prizes worth a total of £376,627,975 were paid to winners. This month, 136,955,621,672 £1 bonds were eligible for the draw. Since the first draw in June 1957, a grand total of 839 million prizes have been awarded, with a cumulative value of £41.5 billion.

NS&I Director Comments on Summer Wins

Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, said: “Agent Million has made the start of summer even brighter for two lucky £1 million jackpot winners from Leeds and Cheshire & West Chester. But the good news doesn't stop there. This month, ERNIE drew more than 5.9 million tax-free prizes totalling over £376 million, and with the prize fund rate and odds improving for next month’s draw, there’ll be even more prizes to celebrate. You can check using our NS&I prize checker app from Tuesday 2 June to find out if ERNIE has brought you a win this month.”
