Griffins Gaming, a hidden gem trading card shop nestled under the railway arches in Digbeth, has become so popular that customers queue overnight for new releases. Located on Rea Court, the shop sells Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, and other trading cards worth thousands of pounds. Some cards reach astronomical values, with the most expensive Pokemon card selling for £12.1 million.
A Community Hub for Gamers
Co-owners Eddie Griffiths and Michelle Bolton opened the shop in July 2025 after trading in Erdington for four years. The business saw significant growth during the pandemic as people sought new hobbies and income sources. "When you come here, you can talk to the people who want to know who your favourite Pokemon is," Michelle explains. The venue welcomes players of all ages for tournaments and casual gaming sessions.
Safe Space and Social Hub
The shop provides a safe space for neurodivergent customers and helps newcomers find their community. Despite suffering a break-in earlier this year, the venue continues to thrive as both a trading hub and social space. "It is fully community-based," Michelle says. "You come to know and like people, they become part of the family."
Griffins Gaming has become a destination for collectors and players across the Midlands, offering a unique blend of high-value card trading and inclusive community gaming. The overnight queues for new releases are a testament to its growing popularity and the dedicated following it has built.
