Reloved Brum, the Harborne charity shop previously named one of the best in Britain, has strengthened its offer with the opening of a new cafe called Mello on its upper floor. The cafe, which opened on Tuesday, September 8, is co-owned by Bhav Chamdal and Josh Thomas and serves locally sourced food and drinks, with all beverages priced under £5.
A New Addition to a Top Charity Shop
The two-floor High Street venue has long been recognised for its modern layout, trendy design and the occasional mega bargain. It sits in a street known for excellent charity shopping, with nearby hotspots including the Acorns megastore and the Oxfam bookshop that famously turned up a copy of The Hobbit worth £38,400.
Reloved Brum first opened in 2023 with a cafe on its mezzanine, but more recently that space had been used to house additional bargain clothing rails. Following a search for the right fit, the new cafe operator Mello has now moved in.
What Mello Cafe Offers
The cafe space offers views down over the shop floor and shares the upper level with a small library of books for sale and a section for record collectors. The menu includes breakfast sandwiches from £5.50, egg on toast cooked 'your way' for £7, jacket potatoes, toasted sandwiches such as Buffalo chicken, cheddar and relish, and ham and cheese, as well as cold sandwiches including Caesar chicken, tuna mayo, and ham and hummus with red pepper. A kids menu is also available.
In addition to teas and coffees, Mello serves trendy drinks including matcha and strawberry lemonade tea, with all drinks under £5 and most under £4. A range of sweet treats, including pastries, complements the coffee offering.
Charity Support and Opening Details
On its opening day, the coffee shop offered £2 coffees, with proceeds going directly to the charity. Mello at Reloved Brum is located at 48-50 High Street, Harborne, B17 9NE.
