Strictly Come Dancing contestant Lewis Cope has shared an emotional message ahead of his return to the dance floor for the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour. The 30-year-old former Emmerdale actor, who partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones during the 2025 series, opened up about the significance of performing in Birmingham.
A Journey to Remember
Lewis made his Strictly debut in September 2025, quickly impressing audiences with his dance skills alongside Katya. Their journey on the show ended unexpectedly when they became the ninth couple to be eliminated, a departure that surprised many viewers across the UK. Reflecting on his time in the competition, Lewis expressed deep gratitude for the experience.
Birmingham Holds Special Significance
In an exclusive conversation with the Birmingham Mail, Lewis revealed his anticipation for the tour's opening in Birmingham. "I haven't actually spent much time in Birmingham, so, like Katya said it's going to be super special. It's the first time I've performed in an arena," he confessed. "So to be in Birmingham, to do that, that's going to be special and would be a memory I'll remember forever."
He further elaborated on his eagerness to explore the city, noting that both he and Katya have been intensely focused on rehearsals. "[I'm] looking forward to spending the weekend there, having a look around and actually getting to know the city as well," Lewis added, even asking for local recommendations from the Mail team.
Local Recommendations and Leisure Plans
True to Birmingham's iconic landmarks, suggestions included taking photos with the famous bull statue outside the Bullring and with the Ozzy statue at New Street station. While their schedule remains flexible, Katya hinted they might catch a film at the Everyman cinema in the Mailbox if any appealing movies are showing.
