£1,500 Donation Boosts Alconbury School's New Forest Area
£1,500 boost for Alconbury School's forest area

A primary school in Cambridgeshire is set to transform its outdoor learning facilities thanks to a generous cash injection from a national housebuilder.

A Helping Hand for Outdoor Learning

Friends of Alconbury Church of England School (FACES), the parent-teacher association for Alconbury C of E Primary School, has received a £1,500 donation from David Wilson Homes. The funding will be used to develop a new forest school area and purchase equipment, creating an enriching outdoor space for students to enjoy for years to come.

The charity, which is run by volunteers including parents, grandparents, and school staff, organises fundraising events throughout the year. These efforts have historically funded new equipment, learning resources, playground games, and have even contributed to building projects at the school.

Recognising Community Efforts

Hannah Mulcrone, Headteacher at Alconbury Church of England School and a member of FACES, expressed her delight at the news. She stated, "We were delighted to hear the news that we had been chosen to receive this donation from David Wilson Homes. This donation will help transform our children’s outdoor experience when they learn in our new forest school area."

She praised the hard work of the volunteers, adding, "We work tirelessly throughout the year fundraising for our amazing pupils, so it is lovely to have our hard work recognised in such a way." Mulcrone also highlighted the value of the developer's Community Fund scheme, noting its fair and locally-focused decision-making process.

Building a Legacy in the Community

The donation was made through The Barratt Redrow Foundation, an initiative designed to support charities across the UK and leave a positive legacy in the communities where the housebuilder operates.

Ben Kalus, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, commented, "As a leading housebuilder, we strive to support the communities in and around the areas in which we build, and we are delighted to be able to offer Friends of Alconbury Church of England School a donation to support the fantastic work it does."

With the new funding secured, the children at Alconbury C of E Primary School are eagerly anticipating the chance to explore and learn in their brand-new forest school environment.
