Birmingham Parents Face Fines for Term-Time Holidays as Attendance Crackdown Continues

Fines have been increased from £60 to £80 in a bid to encourage families to comply, but this measure appears to have had little impact. It seems there are parents whose minds will not be changed over the matter, regardless of the financial penalties.

They added that it should be down to holiday companies to change their pricing practices, rather than penalising mums and dads. Conservative MP Robbie Moore commented, "It is surely true that the parents paying these fines and objecting to feelings of having broken the law are the same parents who are generally law abiding and value their children being in school."
