The council notes that individual schools may add extra teacher training days during both terms, as these are set independently by each school in Birmingham.
Autumn Term 2026 dates for Birmingham schools
The autumn term runs from Tuesday 1 September 2026 through to Friday 18 December 2026. Half-term falls between Monday 26 October and Friday 30 October.
The Christmas holiday is scheduled from Monday 21 December 2026 to Friday 1 January 2027.
Spring Term 2027 dates for Birmingham schools
The spring term starts on Monday 4 January 2027, with half-term from Monday 15 February to Friday 19 February. The term ends on Thursday 25 March, followed by the Easter holiday from Thursday 25 March to Friday 9 April 2027.
Parents are advised to check their child's school for any changes to the listed return dates, as some schools stagger returns for younger year groups and hold teacher training days on the first day back.
Warwickshire and Staffordshire school dates
Warwickshire County Council lists Tuesday 1 September 2026 as a teacher training day, so pupils return on Wednesday 2 September. Half-term runs 26-30 October, with the term ending 18 December. The spring term starts Monday 4 January 2027, which is also a training day, with half-term 15-19 February and the term ending Thursday 25 March.
Staffordshire County Council has consistent inset days across its schools. The autumn term starts Wednesday 2 September 2026 after an inset day on Tuesday 1 September. The spring term begins Monday 4 January 2027, with Easter holiday from Monday 29 March to Friday 9 April.
