Hayley Hanson, a teaching assistant at Brays School in Sheldon, has been named a Silver Winner and finalist in the Teaching Assistant of the Year category at the prestigious Pearson National Teaching Awards 2026. The award recognizes her exceptional contribution to pupils, colleagues, and the wider Brays School community.

Colleagues and pupils at Brays School celebrated Hayley's success on National Thank a Teacher Day. The school, part of Forward Education Trust, is a special day school in Sheldon where staff work closely with pupils, families, and carers to help every child reach their potential.

Hayley will now be in with the chance of winning the prestigious Gold award, which will be announced at an awards ceremony in London and on BBC One's 'The One Show' later this year.
