Chase High School Sixth Formers Rewarded with Breakfast for Outstanding Attendance
Dedicated sixth form students from Chase High School in Westcliff-on-Sea have been celebrated with a special breakfast event in recognition of their exceptional attendance records. Year 12 and 13 pupils who achieved their best possible attendance since the start of the academic year in September were invited to join their teachers for a celebratory meal at Toby Carvery.
A total of 25 students gathered for the occasion, which honoured their unwavering commitment to attending lessons daily and their dedication to learning. The event underscores the school's focus on fostering a culture of regular attendance and academic excellence.
Recognition of Commitment and Values
Anthony Sturge, head of Year 12 and 13 at Chase High School, explained the significance of the annual attendance event. "We run this attendance event every year for the students to recognise their commitment to our sixth form during the first term," he said. "These students were rewarded because they embody the values of our school, demonstrating ambition and resilience every day."
Sturge emphasised the strong correlation between attendance and academic performance, noting that the students celebrated are among the top performers in the sixth form. "Excellent attendance is linked to better achievement - these students are among the top performers in our sixth form. Our students make us proud every day, and it is nice to reward them for their achievements," he added.
Broader Attendance Initiatives
Beyond the annual breakfast, Chase High School implements a range of initiatives to encourage and reward good attendance across all year groups. The school celebrates students who show improvement in their attendance through various methods, including:
- Weekly competitions to motivate consistent attendance.
- Shout-outs during school assemblies to publicly acknowledge efforts.
- Praise postcards sent home to recognise positive behaviour.
- Additional rewards for maintaining good attendance records.
These efforts aim to create a supportive environment that values punctuality and engagement, contributing to overall student success and well-being.
