Heatwave Forecast for July 10-12
Weather maps from WX Charts have revealed the exact date a new 34C heatwave is set to hit England, with only one county spared. Temperature charts turn red and orange for Friday, July 10, through Sunday, July 12, with Cumbria in the north west escaping heatwave-level heat.
The latest forecast comes as the West Midlands and large parts of England have been gripped by sweltering conditions this week, with records broken. According to wxcharts.com, the mercury will rise to 30C and 31C across large parts of the country on Friday, July 10.
Temperatures Peak on Saturday
On Saturday, July 11, temperatures will get even higher and more widespread, with highs of 32C and 33C, including the West Midlands and Birmingham. The capital city of London could see the temperature peak at 34C. More hot conditions are forecast for Sunday, July 12, with peaks of 31C, but these conditions are set to drop off by Monday.
Cumbria in the north west is set to escape heatwave conditions, with highs of 24C on Friday and Saturday, and 20C on Sunday.
Heatwave Definition
In order to be classed as a heatwave, temperatures must reach a certain threshold for three consecutive days. This threshold differs around the country, with places further north having a lower threshold than the likes of London and the south east, according to the Met Office. In the northwest, the threshold is 25C, while other parts of England have thresholds of 26C, 27C, or 28C.
