The Met Office has updated its forecasts for the week ahead, clearly indicating the exact date when the current sweltering conditions in Birmingham will come to an end.
Millions of Brits have enjoyed a blazing hot bank holiday weekend, with temperatures reaching a scorching 35C in Birmingham today (May 25). However, all good things must come to an end, and early forecasts suggest the heat will wind down before the weekend.
For those lucky enough to have a day off today, the weather is set to be even hotter than Saturday and Sunday. The Met Office states: "Bank Holiday Monday will be dry and settled with high pressure dominating, giving almost unbroken sunshine throughout the day. It will become hot in the light winds, with afternoon temperatures possibly breaking records for May."
Moving into tonight, they add: "The fine weather will continue overnight. There will be lots of sunshine to end the day. Patchy cloud will develop overnight, but remaining dry. Quite a warm night too. Minimum temperature 16C."
Tuesday will be similar, with highs of 33C expected across the Midlands. The forecaster continues: "Another mainly dry, often sunny and hot day is on the cards on Tuesday. However, some patchy cloud is possible, and an isolated heavy shower cannot entirely be ruled out."
The outlook for Wednesday to Friday is when things start to change, with the latter day dramatically dropping off to 23C. The Met Office explains: "The weather will stay warm through the week, though cooler than recently. There will be some sunshine at times, though a chance of a few showers, which could turn thundery."
This marks a significant shift from the current heatwave, providing relief for those who have found the high temperatures uncomfortable. Residents are advised to enjoy the remaining sunny days while they last and prepare for cooler, potentially wetter conditions by the end of the week.
