Welshpool Interact Club Installs Bat Boxes from Llanfyllin Men's Shed
Bat Boxes Installed by Welshpool Interact Club

The Welshpool Interact Club has recently taken delivery of 10 bat boxes, handcrafted by the Llanfyllin Men's Shed. These new additions will join 10 bug hotels already held by the group, all funded through a grant from the Powys Nature Partnership.

Installation Plans

Plans are already in motion to find the best spots for the new habitats. The club has secured permission to install four bat and four bug boxes in the wooded area beside the Tourist Information Council Building in Welshpool. Additionally, members are working alongside the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway to place six bat and six bug boxes along the trackside.

Community Support

Mike Lade, Interact president, said: "We are very grateful to the Powys Nature Partnership for the grant of the funds to purchase the boxes and to the Council and Light Railway for their co-operation in identifying suitable sites to install the boxes."

The environment is one of the seven areas of focus for Rotary and Rotaract. Not just in the UK, but worldwide in the 180-plus countries where Rotary has over 1.2 million clubs.

Get Involved

For those looking to get involved in community projects, the Welshpool Rotaract club welcomes anyone aged 18 or older to attend an informal meeting. The group offers a modern membership option for a new generation, meeting on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

Gatherings take place in the back bar of The Royal Oak, The Cross, Welshpool, from 6:15pm until 7pm. The club also utilises Zoom for meetings to support those who live further afield or those who may be housebound, ensuring the group remains accessible to all.
