Energy provider EDF has announced the return of its Winter Warmer Shop initiative, offering crucial support to vulnerable households during the colder months. The scheme forms part of a comprehensive £30 million winter support package designed to assist customers struggling with energy costs.
What Support Is Available?
Through the Winter Warmer Shop, eligible EDF customers can receive free energy-efficient appliances including air fryers, kettles, and slow cookers. The scheme also provides energy vouchers to help reduce household bills.
The company's Customer Support Fund, managed in partnership with Charis, offers additional assistance through direct financial aid and debt relief. Approved applicants may benefit from agreed payment plans and the suspension of debt collection activities.
How the Scheme Works
Unlike many support programmes, customers cannot apply directly to the Winter Warmer Shop. Instead, EDF will identify eligible households and contact them between November and February.
Those selected will receive a personalised link allowing them to choose the support that best meets their needs. The energy firm has confirmed it will continue identifying eligible customers throughout winter and provide additional help where requested.
Additional Support Options
For customers who cannot access the Winter Warmer Shop, alternative support remains available. The Customer Support Fund can supply energy-efficient appliances to replace old or faulty models, potentially reducing energy consumption and bills.
Some households may also qualify for bundles of smaller warming products through the same fund. EDF faces competition from other major energy providers including British Gas, OVO, Octopus and EON Next, all offering various support measures during the energy crisis.
The initiative represents a significant commitment to supporting vulnerable customers through what promises to be another challenging winter for many households across the UK.
