Asda Continues £1 Kids' Meal Initiative During Easter Break
Asda is extending its popular Kids Eat for £1 meal deal throughout the Easter holidays, providing a budget-friendly option for families facing increased financial pressures during the school break. The supermarket's café initiative, which has served over seven million meals since its launch in 2022, remains active across Britain, offering both hot and cold meal choices for children under 16.
Supporting Families and Communities
Jordan Cummings, Asda's café buying manager, emphasized the program's goal to assist families and communities during the Easter period. He stated, "School holidays can put extra pressure on family budgets, so we’re reminding customers that our Kids Eat for £1 meal deal is on throughout the Easter break." Cummings highlighted that the initiative requires no minimum spend, making it an accessible resource for households seeking affordable dining options while out and about.
Meal Options and New Additions
The deal includes a variety of hot meals such as Penna Pasta, Chicken Nuggets, Fish Fingers, and Margherita pizza, all accompanied by a free drink. Cold options feature a pick-and-mix deal comprising a sandwich, drink, piece of fruit, and snack. Asda has recently introduced new items to the selection, including jelly pots and alternative crisp options, enhancing the variety available to young diners.
Year-Round Commitment and Impact
In 2024, Asda confirmed that the Kids Eat for £1 initiative would run continuously throughout the year, including all school holidays. Former chief commercial officer Kris Comerford previously noted, "We know that families are preparing for the Easter school holidays and for many households, this can put additional strain on already tight budgets." He expressed delight at the program's extension, hoping it would support numerous families in the coming weeks, reflecting Asda's ongoing commitment to community assistance through affordable meal solutions.
