A38 Last Exit, the UK's first all-halal multi-vendor drive-in, has expanded its parking capacity to over 100 spaces, including 60 new indoor spots, to accommodate growing demand in Birmingham. Located on Tyburn Road in Erdington just off the A38 motorway, the venue opened in 2024 and has quickly become a popular destination for halal street food enthusiasts.
Prior to the expansion, the site frequently struggled with parking shortages. Visitors were warned about queueing on the main road, causing tailbacks, and were reminded not to park in loading bays or block pavements for prams and wheelchairs. The new parking aims to alleviate these issues.
Parking Woes Prompt Expansion
By acquiring the building next door, A38 Last Exit added 15 new parking bays directly outside the new site, alongside 60 indoor spaces. On-site security now monitors the area to ensure safe parking. The venue stated: “More parking, less stress and more time enjoying what matters.”
The expansion brings the total parking spaces to over 100, a significant increase from the previous capacity. This move is expected to reduce congestion on surrounding streets and improve accessibility for families and disabled visitors.
New Indoor Parking and Safety Measures
The 60 indoor spots provide sheltered parking, a welcome addition during inclement weather. The venue emphasized its commitment to safety and accessibility, saying: “As always, we’d really appreciate your help by avoiding parking on footpaths or blocking access lanes so we can keep A38 Last Exit safe, accessible and family friendly for everyone.”
A38 Last Exit operates seven nights a week from 5pm until midnight, offering a range of halal street food from vendors including CZN Burak from Ladypool Road, Howlin Chicken, Meat and Eat, and the Milkcake Man.
National Rollout Plans
According to the A38 Last Exit website, the halal drive-in concept is set to roll out across the UK. The company is focusing on London, Glasgow, Leicester, Manchester and Cardiff as potential expansion cities. The Erdington site remains the flagship, demonstrating strong demand for halal street food in the region.
