From now until March 29, 2026, customers who order via the McDonald's app can receive a free Diet Coke or Coke Zero with their purchase. Additionally, for a shorter period ending on March 8, diners can get six chicken nuggets for free when they spend £20 or more on McDelivery orders. Breakfast lovers are also in luck, as until March 8, spending £15 or more on breakfast items earns a free hash brown.
To take advantage of these offers, orders must be placed through McDelivery on the McDonald's app, and only one deal can be applied per order. It is crucial for customers to verify if their local McDonald's outlet is participating in the promotion to avoid any disappointment.
App Benefits and Loyalty Points Changes
Using the McDonald's app not only allows access to these free items but also enables customers to accumulate loyalty points. Currently, users earn one point for every penny spent on the menu, which can be redeemed for various menu items. However, significant changes to the points system are on the horizon.
Starting March 17, 2026, the number of points required for redemption will increase across multiple popular items. For example:
- Burgers like the Big Mac or Double Fillet of Fish will rise from 5,500 to 6,500 points.
- Medium Coffee or Small Fries will go from 1,500 to 2,000 points.
- McFlurry or Apple Pie will increase from 2,500 to 3,500 points.
- Double Cheeseburger or McChicken sandwich will require 5,000 points, up from 4,000.
A McDonald's spokesperson explained that these adjustments reflect rising food and supply costs. They added that while points requirements have increased, new fan favorites such as Chicken Selects, Cheese sides, and the Sausage Sandwich are now available for redemption, offering more choices for customers.
This promotion provides a temporary benefit for Birmingham app users, but it comes alongside broader changes to the loyalty program that may affect regular customers in the long term.
