Alfred Works Food Hall Launches in Digbeth with Diverse Culinary Line-Up

The highly anticipated Alfred Works food hall has officially opened its doors at the historic Custard Factory in Digbeth, Birmingham. Spanning an impressive 17,500 square feet, this new venue is the creation of the award-winning hospitality group Blend Family and promises to be a vibrant hub for food, culture, and community engagement.

A Global Feast of Independent Kitchens

Alfred Works is home to 15 independent kitchens, offering a diverse array of cuisines from around the world. From Korean street food and Italian classics to bold Caribbean flavours, comforting Palestinian dishes, and Malaysian favourites, the food hall caters to a wide range of tastes. The venue also features a large outdoor courtyard, social gaming zones, family-friendly spaces, and event areas that overlook the scenic River Rea, providing a dynamic environment for visitors to enjoy.

Events and Community Initiatives

The events programme at Alfred Works is already in full swing, positioning the venue as a cultural and community centre in Digbeth. Activities include seasonal celebrations, creative workshops, live entertainment, family-friendly events, and food-focused experiences. For instance, Chinese New Year activities in February kicked off the programme with a free Lunar New Year workshop for children to write traditional Fai Chun messages. The full schedule of events is available online, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy throughout the year.

A range of lunchtime deals are available to attract local workers, freelancers, and creatives, encouraging them to drop in and fuel their creativity during the day.

Future Plans and Social Mission

This spring, Alfred Works will expand its offerings with the opening of a dedicated cookery school and community foundation. Matt Bigland, Co-founder of Blend Family, expressed excitement about the opening, stating, "Alfred Works celebrates independent talent, global flavours, and food that brings people together. We're thrilled to be a space where Birmingham's diversity, creativity, and community spirit can thrive."
