A recycling centre in the Midlands was set to remain closed today after a serious issue forced its sudden shutdown. The Princes Drive recycling centre in Leamington Spa closed on Wednesday, June 10, with management indicating it was unlikely to reopen on Thursday morning, June 11.
The closure was triggered by a critical fault with the on-site JCB compactor, which led to all skips becoming full and unable to accept more waste. Residents have been advised to use alternative facilities while repairs are carried out and the skips are cleared.
Warwickshire Recycles announced the closure on social media, stating: "Princes Drive is currently closed. It is unlikely the site will open on time on the morning of Thursday, June 11. Please use an alternative site. This is due to a serious issue with the JCB compactor that has not been fixed on Wednesday. That has meant all the skips are full. It is hoped skips will be emptied on Thursday so the site can reopen at some point that day."
