Cheshire Wildlife Trust Launches Annual Photo Competition for 2027 Calendar
Cheshire Wildlife Trust has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated photography competition, calling for breathtaking images of wildlife and wild places across the region. The contest is open to residents of Cheshire, Halton, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Warrington, and Wirral, with submissions set to be featured in the Trust's 2027 calendar.
Celebrating Local Nature Through Photography
The competition will select 12 winners and 12 runners-up, whose photographs will be prominently displayed in the calendar. This initiative aims to showcase the diverse natural beauty found throughout the area, from urban parks to rural landscapes.
Last year's competition saw Colin Woods' stunning photograph of a pair of great-crested grebes at Big Mere in Marbury take the top prize, gracing the cover of the 2026 calendar. The image captured the essence of Cheshire's wildlife, highlighting the region's rich biodiversity.
Inspiring Submissions from Previous Years
Kat Wade, a representative from Cheshire Wildlife Trust, expressed enthusiasm for the annual event. "Every year we're blown away by the photos submitted to our competition," she said. "It really does show the amazing variety of wildlife and landscapes we have on our doorstep here in Cheshire."
Wade noted that last year's entries included remarkable examples of urban wildlife, such as a little owl spotted in Queens Park, Crewe, and a hedgehog photographed in a garden in Macclesfield. These submissions demonstrate how nature thrives even in built-up environments.
"Whether it's an iconic Cheshire landscape, or wildlife you've spotted in your local park or woodland, we're excited to see what people have captured on camera this year," Wade added.
