Tonight Josephine, a 'fabulous' Birmingham bar known for glamorous nights out, has closed its doors in the city centre after five years of operation. The venue, located on Stephenson Street in a unit formerly occupied by betting shop Ladbrokes, has been marked as 'permanently closed' on Google and removed from the list of locations on the Tonight Josephine website.
Closure announced via voicemail and website
The closure became official on September 27, with Nightcap Venues, the chain that owns Tonight Josephine, encouraging customers to visit their other venues. In a voicemail message, a staff member confirmed: "Hi there, Tonight Josephine will be closing its doors on Sunday September 27. If you would like to join us for drinks after September 27, your nearest Nightcap Venues are The Cocktail Club and Dirty Martini. If you have an enquiry for booking after September 27, a member of our team will be getting in contact with you soon to discuss alternative options."
A message on the Tonight Josephine website reads: "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we are closed babe. We'll miss you." The Birmingham location had been operating since June 2021, offering bottomless brunches and what customers described as 'amazing' nights out.
Customers praise the venue's atmosphere
Despite the closure, the bar maintained a strong reputation among its patrons. On Google Reviews, Tonight Josephine held a 4.8 out of five star rating. Gem Clarke wrote: "Fab time, great atmosphere, brilliant entertainment and friendly staff. Perfect for a girls day/night."
Ololade Adetoro commented: "Amazing time was had here with my girlies. The atmosphere was amazing and the queens were great as usual." Emily Warren added: "Absolutely incredible darling. Nightcap Venues has directed former Tonight Josephine patrons to its other Birmingham locations, The Cocktail Club and Dirty Martini, for future drinks and bookings. The company has indicated that team members will contact customers with existing enquiries to discuss alternative arrangements following the closure.
