Birmingham Snow Forecast: -10C Freeze and Wintry Blasts to Hit UK
Snow forecast for Birmingham as temperatures plummet

The Midlands is set for a sharp taste of winter this week as forecasters warn of plummeting temperatures and potential snow showers reaching as far south as Birmingham.

Arctic Blast to Bring Wintry Disruption

An incoming cold snap is predicted to bring freezing conditions and snow blizzards to parts of the UK within hours. Weather maps have turned a stark blue, indicating a significant drop in temperature, with some northern areas of the country potentially seeing the mercury fall as low as -10°C.

The Met Office has identified the period from Wednesday to Friday as the coldest part of the week, highlighting that a "significant wind chill" will make conditions feel even more bitter.

Met Office Warns of Travel Disruption

Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Mr Gundersen, provided specific details on the developing situation. He stated that an area of rain will reach western Scotland early on Tuesday morning, with a risk of it turning to snow as it moves further inland.

"Whilst there is some uncertainty as to the exact track and extent, a period of snow is likely over high ground," Mr Gundersen said. He warned of potential accumulations of 2-5 cm above 150 metres and as much as 5-10 cm above 400 metres, which could bring disruption to travel and infrastructure across the higher parts of Scotland.

What to Expect in Birmingham

The colder weather front is expected to push south, potentially leaving areas around Birmingham, Manchester, and Stoke-on-Trent seeing snow. Weather maps suggest temperatures in the region will hover between -1°C and 0°C.

The specific Met Office forecast for Birmingham is as follows:

This evening and tonight: A dry evening with clear skies, turning cold with a frost developing overnight. Minimum temperature -1°C.
