A dedicated team of mental health workers at Cygnet Manor in Shirebrook has been honoured with a national award for their exceptional fundraising efforts. The service, located on Central Drive, is a 20-bed high-dependency complex care facility for men with learning disabilities and mental health needs, operated by Cygnet Health Care.
Recognition at Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity Awards
The team received the New Corporate Partnership award at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity Awards 2026, which celebrate individuals and organisations that support the charity during its 50th anniversary year. Cygnet Manor was recognised for its sustained fundraising throughout 2025, raising £12,300 through a series of events including a Family Fun Day at Shirebrook Cricket Club, a sponsored skydive, and a community car wash.
Judges Praise Passion and Dedication
Judges commended the team's creativity and commitment, stating: “Cygnet Manor showed real passion and dedication to Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity with their fundraising efforts in 2025. They organised a fantastic calendar of events including an Easter egg extravaganza, bake sales, a car wash and so much more. Their creativity and commitment showed in every part of their fundraising, and it is a real pleasure to celebrate them.” The panel also highlighted how the team's efforts benefited both service users and the wider community.
Hospital Manager Expresses Pride
Kelly Shortt, hospital manager, reflected on the achievement: “I am incredibly proud of the whole team for the work they put into fundraising for such an incredible cause. It was a shock to be nominated for this award, so to win it is absolutely amazing. The events that ran throughout 2025 raised a staggering amount of money for children and their families and it will make a huge difference. Our fundraiser also brought the Cygnet Manor team together on a whole new level. This amazing achievement shows what a truly dedicated and caring team we have.”
