Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice Rose Garden Refurbished

Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, Keighley, has unveiled its beautifully refurbished rose garden following a generous donation from former trustee and long-standing supporter Margaret Moore OBE. The transformation has brought the garden back to life with repaired pathways, refreshed planting, and a new pond filtration system, creating a bright and peaceful area for patients, families, and staff to enjoy throughout the year.

Volunteer-Led Project

The project was led by volunteer gardener Richard Mason, with support from various volunteers and staff members. Margaret Moore, who has supported the hospice in a variety of ways over the years, said: “Manorlands is very dear to me. I am fascinated by its history and how the building was donated to the charity. It was always one of my favourite places to visit when I was a trustee of Sue Ryder. I also love gardening and particularly roses, so I was delighted to support it - it was an amazing opportunity. The volunteers have done an incredible job. It’s a beautiful and peaceful place, somewhere patients and families can find a calm place to sit and reflect.”

Impact on Hospice Community

Sarah Bottomley, regional director at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, added: “We are so grateful to Margaret for her generous support in transforming our rose garden. It’s a much-loved space for patients, families and staff, and her gift has allowed us to restore it beautifully. This refurbishment will make a real difference to the people we care for at the hospice.” The garden now features newly planted rose beds, improved accessibility, and a refreshed layout designed to make the space more welcoming for visitors. Photos show the striking impact of the work, which has already been warmly received by the hospice community.
