Two men arrested after teen assaulted near Telford underpass

Police investigating a sexual assault in Telford have arrested two men after a teenager was attacked near an underpass. The 19-year-old victim was sexually assaulted by an unknown man on the path between the underpass near Laburnum Road and Stafford Road in Oakengates.

The incident occurred a week ago on Thursday, May 28, between 3.30pm and 4pm. The victim managed to fight off her attacker, who then fled the scene in the direction of Trench.

Two men, aged 23 and 33, have since been arrested in connection with the incident. Both have been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

West Mercia Police have urged the public not to speculate while the investigation is ongoing. Detective Inspector Danielle Logan said: "We understand an incident of this nature can cause alarm within the local community, but I want to reassure the public we are continuing with our enquiries."

"Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, and both have been released on bail while we continue with this investigation. I would also ask the public not to speculate, and if anyone has any information to please contact police immediately."

Officers are continuing to carry out patrols in the area. The victim is being supported by specially trained officers.
