Care for Veterans, a Worthing-based charity providing long-term nursing, rehabilitation, respite and end-of-life care to veterans and their families living with disabilities, is hosting its summer fayre next weekend. The family-friendly event takes place on Saturday, July 4, from noon to 4pm at the Boundary Road home, with entry by donation.
Entertainment and Activities
Attendees can enjoy music performances from school, community and British Sign Language signing choirs, as well as the Rochester Pipes and Drums marching band. Worthing Fire Station’s Red Watch will be present with their fire engine, and a Kung Fu demonstration will take place. Traditional games such as hook-a-duck, spin the wheel, tombola, play your cards right and bottle hoopla will be available for all ages.
Food, Stalls and Special Guests
A variety of food and drinks will be on offer, alongside market and craft stalls. Metal wall art retailer Rusper and Pines, owned by husband-and-wife team Kieran and Victoria, will donate a percentage of sales from their Lest We Forget range to Care for Veterans this year. Special guests include local MP Dr Beccy Cooper, West Sussex High Sheriff Gary Shipton, Worthing mayor Lysanne Skinner and town crier Bob Smitherton.
About Care for Veterans
Care for Veterans provides long-term care for veterans and their families with disabilities, including acquired brain injury and degenerative neurological conditions. Following a merger in 2025, it is now part of the Royal Star & Garter group. Vicky Strange, from Care for Veterans, said: “The Care for Veterans Summer Fayre is one of the highlights in our calendar and a great day out packed with fun for all the family. It’s a chance for us to welcome the community who support us to our Home to share the fun with our residents and staff.”
Volunteer and Donation Opportunities
Those interested in volunteering at the event or donating prizes such as plants, bottled drinks and boxes of chocolates can email the charity directly.
