Margate Bookie, the seaside literary festival, will return for its 11th year this autumn with a line-up of well-known writers. The event runs from October 16 to 18 across three venues in the Kent town, offering practical writing workshops and author talks on topics such as modern fiction, news reporting and graphic novels.

The festival begins with a dedicated day for schools before opening to the general public for author presentations and creative writing sessions. Headliners Day at Turner Contemporary will feature four prominent authors.
Maya Jordan will discuss her memoir Chopsy: The Resistance Tales of a Working-Class Woman. Broadcaster Gemma Cairney will explore the collective power and wisdom found in the lives of twelve remarkable women in her book The Immortal Sisterhood. Music journalist Sylvia Patterson will talk about her latest book I'm Not With the Man, the flipside to her Costa-nominated memoir I'm Not With the Band. Writer and poet Rebecca Perry will speak about her Booker longlisted debut novel May We Feed the King.

Organisers aim to make the sessions available to as many people as possible by offering reduced rates for residents on low incomes. Ticket holders can also buy day passes that save more than 30% off standard prices.
