An inclusive wellbeing service has launched a dedicated sanctuary in Hampshire to support former service personnel and their families. The Resilient Soul Movement, based at C2U Gosport, provides a calm, sensory-safe space specifically designed for veterans.
Running every Monday from 10am to noon, the Veteran Healing & Grounding Sessions offer accessible support for those living with PTSD, hyper-alertness, long-term stress, and emotional overload. Founded by Val Ross, the disability-led, trauma-aware service was built entirely from lived experience of surviving trauma and rebuilding life from the ground up.
Gosport is a town deeply shaped by service, with many residents having worn the uniform, supported a loved one who has, or lived with the long-term impacts of military life. The sessions are non-clinical, informal, and pressure-free, focusing on grounding, nervous-system regulation, and emotional decompression. Crucially, veterans are encouraged to attend alongside their service, support, or companion animals.
Val Ross, founder of the Resilient Soul Movement, said: "Many veterans stay silent, many families carry invisible weight, and service animals absorb stress with no outlet of their own. They serve too, and they carry the load right alongside their humans." The group is open to veterans, families, children, carers, and animals, with no rank, no judgement, and no expectation to talk.
Val continued: "My mission is simple: No man, woman, child, or animal left behind. This work is personal. I'm disability-led, wheelchair-proud, and shaped by a lifetime of supporting both humans and animals through the hardest chapters of their lives. I understand what it means to fight battles no one sees, and I understand the courage it takes to rebuild. Gosport deserves a space where veterans and their families can find steady ground. If sharing this story helps even one person — or one animal — find the support they've been searching for, then this mission is already doing its job."
