13 Heart Conditions Qualify for £187 Weekly DWP PIP Payments
13 Heart Conditions for £187 Weekly DWP PIP

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has identified 13 specific cardiovascular conditions that could make individuals eligible for weekly financial support of up to £187.45 through Personal Independence Payment (PIP).

Understanding PIP and the Payment Structure

Personal Independence Payment is a benefit designed for adults of working age who have a long-term health condition, disability, or mental health condition. It is not means-tested and is based on how a person's condition affects them, not the condition itself. The payment consists of two components: a daily living part and a mobility part.

Claimants can be eligible for one or both components, each having standard and enhanced rates. Payments are typically made every four weeks. If you qualify for the enhanced rate on both components, you will receive £749.80 per four-week period, which breaks down to £187.45 per week.

The 13 Qualifying Cardiovascular Conditions

According to the most recent government data from July 2025, there were a total of 99,685 active PIP claims linked to cardiovascular diseases. The DWP's list details the specific conditions and the number of claimants for each.

The full list of 13 cardiovascular conditions for PIP is:

  • Aneurysm - 3,509 claims

Recent Changes to PIP Payment Rates

It is important to note that PIP payment rates increased in the 2025/26 financial year. The daily living component lower rate rose from £72.65 to £73.90 per week, while the higher rate increased from £108.55 to £110.40 per week.

For the mobility component, the lower rate went up from £28.70 to £29.20 weekly, and the enhanced rate increased from £75.75 to £77.05 per week. These updated rates ensure that support keeps pace with the cost of living for those who rely on this vital financial assistance.
